The Gospel in 7 Shades

The online version of this series is now complete. Find it here.

Once there, you will find the online version of a gospel series I wrote called, “the gospel in 7 shades”. You may have come across it during one of your afternoon strolls through Rundle Mall, as I strum a guitar and offer you to take a free gift, or via some other local means. Most people who come across this page will probably find it through an online link, never having received a hard copy personally. Most would never have stepped foot on the place I call home. Then again, we live in an amazingly small world, so you never know.

Additional message for this current age and the days to come:

Do not be deceived by appearances, for there is only one Truth and Resurrection.

False signs and false powers will appear for the whole world to see. When the One, whom the winds and the waves truly obey and in whom the power of true resurrection rests, appears, will you be resting in His perfect peace, or will you watch as the false peace of this world unravels before your eyes?

When the created universe unwinds and melts away back into a lake, a ‘mass’, of fire, brimstone and sulphur, where will your soul and body be prepared to go?

Now is the time of salvation. See the signs of the times. Christ is calling. Seek God.

In an age of Black Flags, and a never-ending torrent of other flags and attempts to bring about coerced Unity (global or otherwise) out of crisis, I have a better idea – not a Creed for “killers“, but a mantra for the living:

“But they who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not grow weary, walk and not faint.”

Which 7 words would sum up the good news and encapsulate the meaning of life for me? My definitive answer would have to be the following 7 words:

SEEK
GIVE
LOVE
SACRIFICE
EMPOWER
FAITH
LIFE

The message that unifies these 7 words is embodied in a series I recently wrote called, the gospel in 7 shades. The online version of this message is nearly complete. Please come check it out and be so kind as to give me some feedback. There is one more section to add, whilst another page linking to some supporting texts will follow.

Have a blessed, safe and enjoyable festive season. It’ll be upon us in no time.

Warmest regards
Laurence

“Giving it your all…”

If we’re going to give it our all, while our time on this planet is limited,  then it may as well be thoughtful, planned and lasting, however fleeting this world may be.

“Sex, drugs and… secret knowledge?”

I mean, we have none but ourselves to be accountable to, when all is said and done, right? Well, no, there is more at stake than that. If we live life without making a few basic confessions, I don’t think we can readily admit that life is an opportunity that has been given to us for a reason. Yes, a reason!

“Satisfaction, security and… spiritual well-being?”

I would suggest that we begin by seeing life as an unknown journey. Admitting that, however, does not mean that there are some things that we can be heartily passionate about along the way. When we can look back at ourselves and accept our faults and flaws, and that we are ever learning on this road called life, we can then begin to appreciate that everyone else is on the same boat. We’re in this together.

“Attitude, passion and… honest searching.”

Life is an opportunity we must never take for granted. Why settle for second best, when you only have one chance at it? And, is the end goal simply the pursuit of happiness and self-satisfaction, or gaining a higher level of knowledge, or even the very noble aim of building a future for the benefit of yourself and the rest of humanity? If we are never attaining the whole truth (in a state of perpetual learning) until our time is up, then can we ever really stake a claim to the absolute truth? I think a most important lesson for everyone on this journey is that we are human, we are imperfect, we do have our moments of fragility. It most certainly helps to acknowledge that everyone’s end goal can and will shift. At least, though, let us encourage one another to seek out that which is beneficial to the soul and human spirit. Let’s adopt a spirit of honest searching, coupled with passion and humility. Let’s be thoughtful and encouraging, and seek for that which is lasting.

“Give it everything you’ve got – and aim for the everlasting!”
